Peaceful by nature, but its crushing tail club reminded every hunter that even the quiet ones have teeth.
Shunosaurus was gentle. It grazed the lowland forests with an unhurried calm,
moving through the world as though violence were something that happened to
other creatures. It was smaller than the great sauropods — more modest in
every way, content to live quietly among the ferns and cycads of its age.
But gentle does not mean defenseless. At the end of its tail, Shunosaurus
carried a club of solid bone — not as massive as Ankylosaurus's weapon, but
more than sufficient to crack ribs and shatter jaws. It swung this club
rarely, and only when it had to. But when it did, the message was clear: do
not mistake kindness for weakness. The Dominion was an age of spectacle —
enormous predators, armored defenders, creatures that seemed designed to
terrify. Shunosaurus asked a quieter question: what if the most dangerous
thing in the room is the one that doesn't look dangerous at all?
