Helicoprion

Some creatures are remembered for their power. Some for their beauty. Some

for their terror. Helicoprion is remembered for a single, impossible detail:

a spiral of teeth coiled within its lower jaw like a circular saw made of

bone. No creature before it had carried such a weapon. No creature after it

would try again. The spiral did not replace itself the way normal teeth do —

it grew continuously, the oldest teeth curling inward as new ones pushed

forward, creating a whorl of serrated edges that defied every principle of

practical design. And yet it worked. Helicoprion hunted the Eldergrowth seas for

millions of years, proving that nature does not care whether a solution is

elegant, only whether it is effective. Sophia studied it. Faber admired it.

Lira laughed at it. The spiral maw was life at its most creative and its

most absurd — a weapon that looked like a mistake and cut like a masterwork.
