She gathered dust and stone, pressing them into mountains, continents, and the bones of the earth.
When Kael's storms scattered the raw matter of creation, someone had to gather
the pieces. Gaia knelt in the chaos and began to build — not with haste, but
with the patience of stone itself. She pressed dust into rock, rock into
mountains, mountains into continents. She shaped the foundations upon which
everything else would stand. Her work is not beautiful in the way that light
is beautiful. It is beautiful the way bedrock is beautiful — unseen,
unappreciated, and absolutely essential. Every footstep falls on ground she
made. Every river carves through valleys she shaped. Every creature that has
ever lived has stood upon her work and never once looked down to thank her.
Gaia does not mind. The earth does not need gratitude. It only needs to hold.
